Building on Tradition: Berks Ortho and Freedom Therapies Return to the Pickleball Court

Following the success of last fall’s Learn to Play Pickleball event, Berks Ortho and Freedom Therapies were excited to once again partner with the West Reading Pickleball Association this spring to bring community members together for an afternoon of activity, learning, and friendly competition.

As pickleball continues to grow in popularity throughout Berks County and across the nation, the event provided an opportunity for both new and experienced players to enjoy the sport while connecting with others who share a commitment to healthy, active living.

Hosted at the West Reading Pickleball Courts, the event featured instruction from members of the West Reading Pickleball Association, giving participants the opportunity to learn game fundamentals, improve their skills, and gain confidence on the court. Players then had the chance to put those skills into action through friendly tournament play and recreational matches.

Continuing the Momentum

What began as a community initiative in 2025 has grown into an ongoing effort to encourage movement, wellness, and social connection through one of America's fastest-growing sports.

The enthusiastic response to last year's event demonstrated just how much interest exists in activities that are accessible, engaging, and suitable for individuals of varying ages and skill levels. This year's event continued that momentum by welcoming participants who were discovering pickleball for the first time alongside returning players eager to sharpen their game.

More Than Just a Sport

Pickleball's popularity extends beyond the court. The sport promotes cardiovascular fitness, balance, coordination, and mobility while creating opportunities for social engagement and community building.

At Berks Ortho and Freedom Therapies, we understand the important role physical activity plays in overall health and wellness. Community events like this help introduce individuals to enjoyable ways to stay active while reinforcing healthy habits that can last a lifetime.

Supporting Active Lifestyles Through Partnership

The collaboration between Berks Ortho and Freedom Therapies reflects a shared commitment to helping people move better, recover stronger, and maintain active lifestyles.

Whether through sports medicine, orthopedic care, physical therapy, or community education initiatives, both organizations work together to support individuals at every stage of their health journey. Events like the annual pickleball program provide another opportunity to engage with the community outside of the clinical setting while promoting movement and wellness.

Looking Ahead

We are grateful to the West Reading Pickleball Association for their partnership and expertise, and we thank everyone who joined us for this year's event.

The continued success of our pickleball programs reinforces the value of bringing people together around activities that promote health, connection, and lifelong movement. We look forward to building on this tradition and creating additional opportunities for our community to stay active in the years ahead.

Stay tuned for future events and wellness programs from Berks Ortho and Freedom Therapies!
